Margaret’s Mustique frolics

30 October 2012

Former general manager of Mustique, Nicholas Courtney, momentarily lost his cool at the launch of Lord Of the Isle: The Extravagant Life and Times of Colin Tennant at Bonhams in Bond Street last night.

Asked by a young reporter whether Princess Margaret had made love on the beach, Courtney boomed: “That is a good question but this is not the time or the place to ask it.”

Sadly, there was no sign of Sir Roddy Llewellyn to provide the answer.

Earl Alexander of Tunis regretted that his brother Brian, who was general manager of Mustique for many years, wasn’t able to be there. Lady Alexander, Princess Margaret’s lady in waiting, said she wasn’t consulted over the book. She might have had some good stories about her boss but she might have been too discreet to tell them.
