Happy to hear Petronella Wyatt, Boris Johnson’s much-loved deputy when he was editor of The Spectator, is dating Toby Mott, artist, designer, ex-anarchist and collector of punk ephemera.

They have been seeing each other for several weeks. She took him to a dinner for Lord Black when the former proprietor of the Daily Telegraph and The Spectator, was in town recently. Mott, 48, has even been out with Petsy and her mother Lady Wyatt, the Hungarian-born Verushka. Petronella, pictured left, who enjoys singing cabaret, will appreciate that this brings to mind the famous 1921 comic song by Ivor Novello and Dion Titheradge about a young man who is dating an over-chaperoned girl, And Her Mother Came Too.

Mott has just come back from a weekend in Venice with Petronella. They stayed with Lady McAlpine. What fun.
