Sophie Long has maintained a dignified silence since the revelation of her affair with fellow BBC News presenter Tim Willcox on Monday but she has let her jewellery do the talking this week.

Long has continued to fill her afternoon slots with Jon Sopel on the 24-hour news channel, and while her wedding ring could be seen at the start of the week it had disappeared by yesterday’s programme.

Her lack of comment regarding the affair may have more to do with a lack of representation rather than an effort to remain elusive. The Londoner spoke to Long’s management yesterday, only to be told they have parted ways with the anchor.

“She is not a client of ours any more,” an employee at Knight Ayton Management explained. “I think she is representing herself.”
