A football joke (of sorts) from David Cameron at the CBI conference in Paddington yesterday. Talking about the importance of core curriculum subjects, the Prime Minister said he had recently challenged his son Elwen “to name a job in which you do not need English or maths”. Young Elwen thought for a moment and replied: “Professional footballer”. His dad countered by saying “even they need maths — to count all their money”.
