There’ll be no waxing lyrical over George

With royal baby fever showing no sign of abating, Madame Tussauds is coming under increasing pressure to create a lifelike replica of the young Prince George. However despite the popularity of the future king, a spokesman for the wax museum tells the Londoner that it has no plans to make a figure of the young Prince “at this present time”.

“To the best of my knowledge Madame Tussauds London has never created a wax figure of a baby,” the spokesman adds. “Although we have featured a figure of the Queen as a young girl, the Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry were both in their early twenties when their figures were created and I imagine we will wait until Prince George has left education before making his figure.

“We have a very special relationship with the royal family and when the time is right we will do so working in collaboration with them.”

The Queen in particular has been a remarkably good sport, sitting for the museum’s wax sculptors on several occasions and inspiring 23 different waxwork figures.

Children are seldom featured in the collection, although the museum does currently have doppelgängers of Michael Jackson in his Jackson 5 days, Justin Bieber and a young Daniel Radcliffe.

Tussauds fans hoping for a waxwork royal baby can, however, take some consolation. Prince George’s parents have been moved to their own special area of the museum so visitors can spend quality time with them.
