Boris Johnson has admitted he had not watched in full hit film Love Actually, which the Conservatives are using as inspiration for a light-hearted campaign video .
In the Tories’ three-minute video, the Prime Minister creates a scene originally featuring Andrew Lincoln and Keira Knightley, using placards with messages written on them to ram home his Brexit policy.
But asked on Talk Radio whether he had ever seen the Richard Curtis film, Mr Johnson said: “Uh, well actually, I’ve only seen it in episodic...”
Presenter Julia Hartley-Brewer pressed him: “You’ve not seen the film Love Actually?”
Mr Johnson responded: “I’ve not seen all of it from beginning to end because I’m so busy.
“But I’m familiar with the basic concept and the fantastic work done by Hugh Grant.”
Mr Johnson is seen in the video approaching an apathetic voter on her doorstep and silently showing her a series of messages after pretending to be a group of carol singers.
Two of the placards read: "With any luck, by next year we'll have Brexit done (if Parliament doesn't block it again)."
Jeremy Corbyn also launched a pop culture-inspired campaign video on Monday night as the run up to the General Election on Thursday entered its final stages.
In a video entitled "Mean Tweets with Jeremy Corbyn", the Labour leader read out critical tweets about him in a format popularised by US late-night chat host Jimmy Kimmel.
Mr Corbyn can been seen sitting by a fireplace as he reads read out the tweets.
