Nick Clegg today warned David Cameron to focus on delivering "jobs and growth" from the eurozone crisis rather than exploiting it to claw back powers.

The Deputy Prime Minister hit back after Mr Cameron delivered a Eurosceptic speech at the Lord Mayor's Banquet last night. He said they "think very differently" on Europe, laying bare Coalition tensions.

Speaking alongside Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte this morning, he also delivered a warning to those calling for greater European integration after German Chancellor Angela Merkel called for a "breakthrough to a new Europe".

He said: "I don't think either side has got their priorities right. The priority now is jobs and growth, jobs and growth."

His warning came as figures showed the 17-nation eurozone grew by just 0.2 per cent between July and September, mainly driven by France and Germany.
