More voters believe Ed Miliband is doing a good job than a bad one for the first time since he became Labour leader, polling shows.

The figure comes from an opinion poll carried out for the Daily Mirror, compiled in the aftermath of last night's seven-way TV debate.

Britain's biggest party leaders shared a stage for the first time, fielding audience questions and debating policy.

Mr Miliband had been languishing at a net popularity score of minus 4.4, meaning more people thought he was doing a bad job than a good one.

But now it stands at plus 3.1 - the first time he has tipped over the zero mark. In January Mr Miliband's score was as low as minus 14.6.

He is now on level pegging with the Green Party's Natalie Bennett, who is up to 3.1 from minus 5.

Lib Dem Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg is the only leader of the seven to remain on a negative score - minus 6.2. Before last night he was on minus 13.9.

Prime Minister David Cameron saw his score rise 4.3 points to plus 7.7, but the biggest gainers were the SNP's Nicola Sturgeon - seen as the overall winner of the debate by the YouGov snap poll - who soared 19.1 points to plus 15.4 and Ukip leader Nigel Farage who went from minus 8.1 to plus 6.2.

Leanne Wood of Plaid Cymru is on plus 11.9 from plus 2.

Survation polled 1,207 people online from the end of last night's ITV debate until midday today.
