Theresa May’s support among Conservative members has plummeted dramatically in the wake of the party’s catastrophic General Election result.

After previously holding the highest Tory member satisfaction rating, new data suggests the Prime Minister is now the second most unpopular Cabinet minister.

A survey carried out by ConservativeHome recorded her extraordinary decline in popularity in the wake of the election result that saw a huge fall the party’s majority.

It suggests Mrs May currently has a net satisfaction rating of -26.1, below all other grassroots party members a part from Tory chairman Patrick McLoughlin.

Communities Secretary Sajid Javid meanwhile poked fun at the Conservative leader, comparing her government to Sir John Major’s fragile administration.

There was further bad news for Mrs May as a recent ICM poll for the Guardian gave Labour a two point lead over the Conservatives.

Labour was on 43 per cent, up five points from the previous poll just before the June 8 election, with the Tories down two on 41 per cent.

The poll also suggested Jeremy Corbyn had a +9 net approval rating, with 44 per cent thinking he was doing a good job and 3 per cent that he was doing a bad one.

Mrs May's net approval rating was -26, with just 28 per cent thinking she is doing well.

The ConservativeHome ‘league table’ of Cabinet members survey saw Mrs May dramatically fall from having a +89.1 net approval rating before the election to a -26.1.

Brexit Secretary David Davis came out on top, with a net approval rating of +78.4.
