On Saturday night the Monaco Royal Family turned out for the 2019 Rose Ball, hosted by Grace Kelly's children Prince Albert II of Monaco and Princess Caroline of Hanover.

One of the biggest nights in the Principality's calendar, 'Bal de la Rose' was founded by Princess Grace of Monaco in 1954 and is held to benefit the Princess Grace Foundation.

For several years designer Karl Lagerfeld had worked with Princess Caroline to design the ball. Before his death in February, Lagerfeld had helped create this year's event, which was themed around the Riviera. The evening included a special tribute to the designer.

Each year the ball features 25,000 roses, Princess Grace's favourite flower, and traditionally opens with a royal dance in the ballroom.

The younger generation of Monaco royals were also present at the ball, including Tatiana Santo Domingo, Andrea Casiraghi, Beatrice Boromeo and Charlotte Casiraghi.

The event took place in the Salles des Etoiles of the Monte-Carlo Sporting Club, where it has been held since 1975.

Guests reportedly spend around £700,000 on tickets alone.
