Smart tech just got a lot more personal with the arrival of the smart condom.

Called i.Con, the new gadget has some useful features – it can detect STIs – but also some more potentially worrying ones.

Like a FitBit, the i.Con tracks your data and can give users a deep dive into their bedroom stats – from duration of sessions, to frequency, and even worldwide comparisons with other users.

“Utilizing a Nano-chip and sensors, i.Con will measure and remember a number of different variables during your sessions,” the product description explains.

“Once your session is completed, you will then be able to use the i.Con app to download your recent data which is paired to the device using Bluetooth technology. Once you have downloaded your data, the i.Con will automatically clear its memory making way for your next session.”

The device is slightly misleadingly labelled – rather than being an actual condom, i.Con is a rubber ring that goes outside a normal condom.

“We wanted the i.Con to look refined, non-intrusive and lightweight – the finished article is nothing short of any of those things,” the i.Con’s lead engineer Adam Leverson told Metro.

“There’s a lot of tech packed into the i.Con and for us to be able to deliver it in such a way that there is absolutely no hindrance to the user was our main goal – and I think we have gone above and beyond with the i.Con to make sure of this.”

While the i.Con is not on sale yet, exclusive retailer britishcondoms.uk has revealed a £59.99 price tag for the gadget, and people can register their interest to find out when it can be purchased.

The site claims that 900,000 people have already expressed interest.
