A picture of two identically dressed passengers on a tube train has both confused and bemused people on social media, with one calling it a “glitch in the matrix”.

The photo, which was taken on the Victoria Line last night, shows two women both wearing the same sandals, jeans, hoody, cap and even sporting the same backpack.

The pair have prompted much debate since the photo emerged on Facebook yesterday, with one user claiming that the two are twins who can frequently be seen strolling the capital in the same attire.

Heather Deakin, 34, who took and uploaded the picture, said: “I’d had a few glasses of wine and I thought I might be seeing double.”

“I wasn’t really paying attention - I just saw it and thought it was absolutely hilarious.

“I was only going to send it to my mates, I didn’t realise it was going to go absolutely bananas. It’s so bizarre.

“I didn’t say anything to them. I just thought to myself don’t let them see me taking photos. They’re going to see them now I guess.”

Joke memes showing the pair duplicating have also begun to appear on Facebook.

Max Meiselmaus said: “Shall I be the first to say "a glitch in the Matrix"? No? OK, then.”

Carl Drake posted: “These two walk through Regent's Park most days. Twins who always dress the same, style their hair the same and even walk in step.”
