Central Line delays: Tube commuters face rush hour chaos after train 'hit object' at Lancaster Gate

Central Line commuters are facing major rush hour delays after a train hit an object on the tracks.

Trains were suspended between Liverpool Street and White City early on Friday morning and were not resumed until 8am.

The rest of the line has severe delays both ways.

It is understood that a train hit a “small object” on the line at Lancaster Gate but that the collision was not serious.

A Transport for London spokeswoman confirmed there was something found on the track that at 6.07 am that was being "investigated".

The spokeswoman could not confirm what the object was, but that it was "not a security concern".

Passengers are being advised to divert their journeys to avoid disruption.
