After yesterday's snow chaos on the travel network normal service was resumed today with signal failures blamed for delays.

Tens of thousands of Tube and mainline commuters suffered as signals failed all over the place with chaos continuing through the morning peak.

Tube commuters suffered long delays due to three separate signal failures.

District line passengers suffered delays between Turnham Green and Ealing Broadway and between Earl's Court and Wimbledon. This was due to signal failures at Ealing Common and East Putney.

The District line is one of the busiest on the network and used by more than 600,000 passengers a day.

Piccadilly line users were delayed due to a signal failure at Acton Town.

On mainline rail there were delays of up to an hour and a half for First Great Western, Heathrow Connect and Heathrow Express services to and from Paddington.

This was due to line-side equipment failure between Hayes & Harlington and Southall.

A signal failure at Purfleet caused 15 minute delays for c2c services into Fenchurch Street.

Greater Anglia commuters from Chelmsford into Liverpool Street were hit by signalling problems between Harold Wood and Gidea Park. This led to delays of 20 minutes.

Southern trains into Victoria and London Bridge were delayed by signalling problems at Sanderstead.

This forced trains to a crawl between East Croydon and Oxted adding up to 20 minutes on journeys.

Trains on the Horsham to Victoria route continue to be disrupted due to a weather-related landslide near Horsham.
