London’s commuters today faced fresh misery after a train broke down near Wimbledon.

South West Trains services from Waterloo ground to a halt after the incident which caused chaos for tens of thousands of rail passengers.

The network said in a statement: “Owing to a broken down train between Wimbledon and Raynes Park country bound Suburban lines are blocked.

“Train services running through these stations may be delayed by up to 60 mins or revised at short notice. All stations between Earlsfield and Surbiton will not be served. Disruption is expected until 11pm.”
