ITV presenter Susanna Reid hit back on Twitter after being labelled a "typical remain voting little rich girl".

The TV host was responding to a comment after she posted a Tweet about Ukip leader Nigel Farage and MEP Daniel Hannan.

Her original tweet read: "Nigel Farage: it was a mistake for Leave campaign to promise £350m for NHS" and also included the line: "Daniel Hannan: leaving EU does not mean zero immigration from EU".

Her reference to Mr Farage was over comments he made on Good Morning Britain on Friday, when the Ukip leader told Piers Morgan and Reid after the exit vote that it was a mistake for the Leave campaign to have said they would funnel the millions given to the EU every week into the NHS, as they could not guarantee it.

After posting a tweet about the interview, one person replied saying she was a "typical remain voting little rich girl stamping her feet as she didn't get what she wants".

Another user on the social media platform asked her if she was "still reporting the news or pushing a personal view of the outcome".

But Reid hit back, posting: "a) I haven't declared which way, or if, I voted. b) politicians' views of central campaign themes is important."

She replied clarifying that the tweet referenced two interview clips that had been posted earlier on her timeline.

The former BBC Breakfast presenter received praise from viewers as she questioned Mr Farage on the NHS on Friday.

One even decided that her sharp response warranted a wedding, tweeting her: "After watching @GMB, what @susannareid100 said to Nigel Farage just confirms to me that we should probably get married."
