Blaze rips through KFC in Greater Manchester after burning car pulls into drive-thru

Francesca Gillett10 April 2017

A KFC branch was set on fire after a burning car pulled into a drive thru.

Dramatic photos show a Renault car engulfed in bright flames and thick black smoke billowing into the air at the chicken restaurant in Greater Manchester.

The fire broke out at around lunchtime on Sunday at the KFC in Alphagate Drive in Denton.

According to witness Dean Gardner, KFC staff told him the car was already up in flames when it rolled into the restaurant car park and up to the drive-thru hatch window.

The whole KFC fast food restaurant was set alight after the burning car rolled into the drive thru.

It is thought no one was injured in the fire.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said it took three fire engines around an hour to tackle the "car fire which had spread to a fast food restaurant".

They added: "Firefighters used three hose reels, six breathing apparatus, one thermal imaging camera and a thermal scanner to deal with the fire and were at the scene for around one hour."

KFC has been contacted for comment.
