A pregnant British woman held in Laos on drug smuggling charges has been allowed to see a doctor and an embassy official.
The British Embassy's vice consul from neighbouring Thailand met 20-year-old Samantha Orobator on Tuesday.
Orobator, from south London, has been jailed since August 6 after allegedly being caught with 1.5lbs of heroin in her luggage.
Usually, anyone with more than 1.1lbs of heroin is subject to the death penalty but Orobator will be spared capital punishment if convicted because of a law that bans executing pregnant convicts.
An embassy spokesman said he could not comment on her condition because of confidentiality rules.
