BT email users complain after messaging service goes down

BT email account users have complained to the telecoms company after its messaging service went down today.

Many customers tried to log in to their BT accounts this morning but were greeted with an error message.

They were left unable to access their emails until this evening.

Many users took to Twitter to express their frustation.

One person said: "BT email not working all day. This is not a satisfactory service from a company of their size. It takes far too long to resolve problems."

Another wrote: "BT email not working after 9 hours of tech. Problems and millions affected. BT contingency plan seems only to be 'we're sorry'."

The company apologised for the problems, saying they were caused by a "maintenance update".

A BT spokesperson said: “We apologise to those customers who had issues accessing their email accounts today, following a technical fault. The service is now back up and running.”
