Can you pass the Pippa Middleton tips test?

Wild man friend: Pippa Middleton
31 October 2012

Pippa Middleton's new book Celebrate: A Year of Festivities for Families and Friends has been ridiculed by critics and the public alike for offering mind-numbingly simple advice.

It has even produced its own Twitter parody @PippaTips offering - well much the same advice as the Duchess of Cambridge's younger sister.

But can you tell which ones are Pippa's inimitable own words and which are spoofs from PippaTips?

Try our test (answers at - where else? - the bottom).

1. Informal dinner parties are a great way to entertain a crowd for a short time in the early evening.

2. You can find most of what you need at large supermarkets or online.

3. Google is a great resource for searching for internet sites and finding out information and pictures of kittens

4. Visit your local butcher’s and experiment with different cuts of meat and seasonal game – don’t worry about getting a piece a little bigger then you need, as roasts make for delicious leftovers for the rest of the week.

5. Sunglasses can be a stylish way of keeping bright light from your eyes

6. Rain? Stay dry by staying indoors or sheltering under something or wearing waterproofs or using an umbrella.

7. Beat boredom by participating in exciting, interesting or fun activities.

8. If you live near the sea, a fun idea could be a trip to the beach with seaside activities, such as building sandcastles.

11. Save time by doing things more quickly.

14. Mix and match what you already have at home with shop-bought disposable decorations and a few that you might make.

15. To avoid staining your table or work surfaces, place drinks, particularly hot ones, on a coaster.

16. Hungry but lacking energy to cook? There are literally lots of restaurants you can call with a phone who will deliver food to you.

17. [Parkin] gets better and stickier with time so, once cooled, store in an airtight tin… it will keep for up to two weeks.

18. Breakfast in bed can be anything from a simple pot of tea with a few digestive biscuits to a tray laden with early-morning goodies and flowers.

19. Choose your vase according to the flowers you are working with – tall fluted or convex vases for long stems, square or globe vases for shorter arrangements. Fill with clean water.

20. If you’re going on a backpacking adventure, it’s particularly important to ensure that you have everything you need and that it’s compact and lightweight. If you have your car nearby or are in sight of the house then you don’t need to be quite so organised.
