Around 18,000 pampered pooches graced the stage last week amid much-loved Crufts competition in Marston Green, England.

Crufts is home to more than 500 trade stands and is considered the most prestigious canine competition in the world. The annual event took place across four days and celebrated the best of our furry friends.

Running from March 7-10 this year, the competition saw dogs take part in a wide variety of challenges and presentations in a bid to take home the trophy.

A whole host of agility and jumping tasks were on the agenda during the three-day event, as well as a heelwork to music competition, obedience challenges, and a West Midlands police dog display.

But who were the winning pooches this year? Here’s all you need to know.

Which dog won Best in Show at Crufts 2024?

An Australian shepherd has been crowned Best in Show this year. The three-year-old Viking, from Solihull, Birmingham, beat 24,000 dogs from around the world over the last four days to claim the show’s top honour on Sunday.

Viking is co-owned by Melanie Raymond, John Shaw and Kerry Kirtley. Ms Raymond, a third-generation dog breeder who lives just three miles from the showground, said: “We all dream of winning best in show at Crufts.”

Asked if he lived up to expectation, she said: “He did actually, I should never doubt him because he always gives me everything and you come in and he’s like ‘yep, come on let’s do this’.

“So he loves every minute of it.”

According to dog welfare and training body The Kennel Club, the breed was developed in America as a sheepdog to work on the ranches and is “very successful in the show ring” because of their “attractive colours and athletic movements”.
