A keen cyclist who was smashed off his bike when a car crashed into him as it he waited at a junction has spoken of his "mental scars" from the incident.

Michael Rammell miraculously avoided serious injury when the vehicle's bonnet rammed him off his bike in the horror incident.

He shared video, captured on a dashcam, of the collision and said he hopes it acts as a warning for other drivers.

This shows lycra clad Mr Rammell ride his bike up to the t-junction in Windsor then stop to look out at the road.

A black car then turns into where he is, cutting the corner and thus slamming Mr Rammell onto its bonnet.

He rolls up the front of the black BMW then down, landing on his back with his bike on top of him, before being seen writhing in pain.

Mr Rammell, writing on Facebook, said he escaped with "nothing more than some scrapes and severe bruising".

He added: "The only scars at this point are mental. I acknowledge that I'm now nervous on the road. I'm uneasy."

In time he hopes this will pass, he said.

The driver is to go on a driver awareness course and Mr Rammell blamed the incident on a "lapse in concentration" from them.

He said he does not want to prosecute any further than that and hopes they can move on.

In a message to "all road users" he said: "Respect one another. We all share the road and no one road user has more or less entitlement than another.

"Look out for your fellow humans and remember; they'll all have families, pets and friends that need them at home."
