EasyJet pilots have voted to go on strike in a dispute over pilots being too tired to fly.

However, their union, the British Airline Pilots' Association (BALPA) is still hoping to resolve the row with talks planned for the coming days.

General Secretary Brian Strutton said 96 per cent of members at the airline voted for some form of industrial action following the dispute over fatigue, after a turnout of 88 per cent.

He said: "Balpa has now received a last-minute offer from EasyJet to resolve the dispute and we will consider this carefully in meetings tomorrow before taking any further decisions.

"For clarity that means there are no plans for pilots taking industrial action in EasyJet at this stage. We will issue further information tomorrow."

If strikes do go head, it could cause travel chaos particularly of they are to take place over the October school half-term.

Around 2,000 pilots at the budget airline voted in favour of action over concerns growing fatigue could cause “serious health and safety concerns”.
