Euan Blair marries in lavish ceremony on Blair family's £5m estate

16 September 2013

The eldest son of former prime minister Tony Blair and his wife, Cherie, married his long-term girlfriend at the weekend in Buckinghamshire.

Blair - who was seen affectionately touching his son's face and giving him a kiss on the cheek ahead of the ceremony - wore a dark blue suit and turquoise tie with an ivory buttonhole, similar to Euan's outfit. Cherie wore a champagne-coloured dress and matching coat.

Meanwhile, the Mail on Sunday speculated why Ms Lloyd, the bride's stepmother, was not invited to the wedding, suggesting it was either because she had been against the Iraq war, or, more likely, because relations between her and her husband's first wife, Sedef Ashman, are said to be strained. Sedef Asham is the daughter of a former mayor of Ankara and she was accompanied by a Turkish TV crew who said the country was delighted and intrigued that a distinguished Turkish family was now intimately connected with a family like the Blairs.
