Fourteen arrested after boy stabbed

12 April 2012

Fourteen teenagers have been arrested after a 16-year-old boy was fatally stabbed in a mass brawl, police said.

The youth was attacked on Farleigh Road, Stoke Newington, North London.

A trail of blood could be seen stretching hundreds of yards from the bottom of the road past a parade of shops and up Shacklewell Road into a housing estate.

The trail ended only yards from the Somerford and Shacklewell Community Centre, where police said a birthday party had been taking place.

Local residents described a loud and raucous party. By 11pm nearly a hundred people, most in their teens and early 20's, had congregated in and outside the hall.

The 16-year-old was taken to the Royal London Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 12.19am.

Another 15-year-old male was taken to an east London hospital, where his condition is described as stable.

One female and 13 male youths, aged between 13 and 19, were arrested in connection with the murder and disturbance.

They were taken to north and east London police stations where they remain in custody.

Next of kin have been informed. A post-mortem examination is due to take place.
