A London couple shut in during the coronavirus lockdown have passed the time by building a miniature gallery for their pet gerbils.
Filippo Lorenzin, who works for the V&A, told the Standard how he and his partner Marianna Benetti channelled their love of exhibits to create the tiny exhibit.
"Working for a museum, I know well what makes a room looking like a proper art gallery - although we may have forgot to place a gallery assistant checking no one was chewing or eating in the gallery," he said.
"We started with the main structure, then the benches followed by the wall labels and finally the paintings."
On the wall of the exhibit are rodent-inspired reworks of four famous paintings; Girl with a Pearl Earring, The Scream, The Kiss and the Mona Lisa.
"Initially we wanted to remake less famous paintings but then we thought it would have been fun to play with how famous and recognisable some artworks are," Mr Lorenzin, 30, added.
The gerbils, brothers named Pandoro and Tiramisu, looked to enjoy the gallery - despite taking their teeth to some of the items inside.
"It looked like they couldn’t care less about our efforts and maybe paid too much close attention to the signs and the gallery assistants’ stool," said Mr Lorenzin.
Since sharing images online the pair have been inundated with positive comments.
"What started as a pastime for a lazy Sunday spent locked in our flat became one of the most surreal experiences we ever had," Mr Lorenzin said.
