Grant will help youngsters flee abuse at home

Young Londoners who are victims of domestic abuse will receive financial grants to help them escape the perpetrators.

City Bridge Trust, the City of London Corporation’s charity, has awarded £470,000 to Buttle UK to support children and families to flee abusive relationships.

One in seven London children suffer physical and mental abuse at home by the time they reach adulthood, according to the NSPCC.

Buttle UK is Britain’s largest children’s grant-giving charity.

Billy Dove, chairman of City Bridge Trust, said: “Often families leaving abusive relationships have to leave most of their possessions behind.” He said the trust was “delighted to be working in a partnership where we can benefit from Buttle UK’s expertise”.
