The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will return from parental leave to take centre stage at a worldwide event Global Citizen Live in New York City.

Prince Harry and Meghan will step back into the limelight after they welcomed their daughter Lilibet into the world.

They will join a long list of stars for the 24-hour global show in New York City’s Central Park on Saturday.

Organisers said their appearance is to “continue their urgent work with world leaders in the pursuit of global vaccine equity to end the COVID-19 pandemic for everyone, everywhere”.

The Global Citizen Live event will urge world leaders to take on a vaccine equity policy to help end the Covid-19 pandemic.

Ed Sheeran, Sir Elton John, Kylie Minogue, Metallica and Coldplay are scheduled to perform at a number of shows being held in cities from London to Lagos.

Already the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have voiced their concerns with the issue of vaccine equity.

In May, the couple wrote to chief executives of pharmaceutical companies like Pfizer, Moderna and AstraZeneca to ask them to redouble their support for the UN-sponsored Covax programme which ensures a fair distribution of the jabs.

They were named co-chairs of Global Citizen’s VAX LIVE: The Concert to Reunite the World.

For their son Archie’s birthday, the couple asked people to donate money to pay for Covid vaccinations in disadvantaged countries.

The couple addressed the milestone on the Archewell website following the news.

Their statement read: “Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, are not only humbled to be part of this year’s TIME 100 through the words of friend and partner José Andres, but to also write in praise of Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala for the publication’s annual list of Most Influential People.”
