Part of Heathrow Airport was evacuated Friday after an unattended bag sparked a security incident in Terminal 2 of the airport.

Heathrow temporarily evacuated the terminal after being alerted to the “potentially suspicious item” on Friday morning.

TfL also temporarily closed its stop serving the terminal while police responded to the incident.

A spokesperson for Hillingdon Police said: “We were called at 10:47hrs to reports of an unattended bag at Terminal 2 of #Heathrow Airport.

“The area was evacuated as a precaution. The item was deemed not to be suspicious and the incident has been stood down. Thanks for your patience!”

A Heathrow spokesperson said the area was evacuated as a precaution, and added: “We apologise to any passengers inconvenienced while the matter is investigated.”

One of those affected said on social media before the incident was stood down: “Terminal 2 is being evacuated. No reason given so far.”

Another added: “Heathrow Terminal 2 evacuated, no explanation so far”.
