The son of cricket legend Tony Greig wore his father’s hat in his honour on the first day of the Third Test between Australia and Sri Lanka today.

Tom Greig was among those paying tribute to the former England captain and commentator, top left, who died of a heart attack aged 66 last week. Greig’s wife Vivian, left, and daughter Beau wiped away tears during a minute’s silence before the match.

Fans were asked to wear a broad brim hat, Greig’s trademark, while the two teams at Sydney Cricket Ground wore black armbands. Australia captain Michael Clarke led tributes by wearing Greig’s signature neckerchief, handed to him by Tom before the start of play.
