Ikea has removed a picture of a boy from one of its British stores - after customers likened the child's pose to one used by Adolf Hitler.

Shoppers in Cardiff complained after seeing the image of a young boy with his finger held sideways across his top lip.

Stevie Davies-Evans said he was left outraged by the picture, which appeared to show the boy pretending he had a moustache.

He tweeted: “@IKEAUKSupport Saw this in a “Bedroom” in your Cardiff store yesterday. Inappropriate much? #Hitler.”

Ikea Cardiff store manager Richard Owen apologised for any offence caused by the image, which has now been taken down.

He said: “We can confirm that a photograph that could cause some offence to some of our customers was found in our store.

“We often use photography to illustrate life at home in our room sets and as soon as we were made aware, the image was immediately removed.

“We apologise for any offence the image may have caused.”
