The Spice Girls kicked off the UK leg of their comeback tour and told fans: "It's so good to be home." The band opened the first of 17 nights at London's O2 arena.
"Yay, we're home!" cried Baby Spice Emma Bunton. "It's so good to be home. We're back together again!" Geri Halliwell said: "What a crowd - we love you London!"
It was the first time in nine years that all five had performed in this country.
Emma had vowed to take the stage on crutches if she had to after spraining her ankle during a show in Las Vegas.
But she managed without them and soldiered through the routines, although she left some more energetic dance moves to her band mates.
Emma had hobbled off a plane at Heathrow Airport on crutches.
She had been receiving treatment from David Beckham's doctor to get fit for the show.
Her injury forced the band to cancel an appearance on the BBC One show Strictly Come Dancing, where they were due to sing their old hit 2 Become 1.
Victoria Beckham earlier promised a very special performance. "We're going to give the best show you've ever seen."
The Spice Girls kicked off the reunion tour in Vancouver earlier this month, to broadly positive reviews.
