Keir Starmer poses with BrewDog's 'Barnard Castle Eye Test' beer created after Dominic Cummings' lockdown trip to Durham

Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer has posed with a new craft beer that pokes fun at senior Downing Street advisor Dominic Cummings.

Sir Keir held up a can of "Barnard Castle Eye Test" IPA, named in the wake of Mr Cumming's infamous lockdown trip trip to Barnard Castle , while touring beer giant BrewDog's London brewery.

The MP for Holborn and St Pancras toured the facility alongside shadow business minister Lucy Powell to learn about the company's reopening last weekend.

Any profits from sales of "Barnard Castle Eye Test" go towards funding free sanitiser for the NHS and health care charities.

Mr Cummings was accused of breaking lockdown rules by travelling from London to County Durham.

However, he denied any wrongdoing and received the full backing of Boris Johnson.

Durham Constabulary said Mr Cummings may have committed “a minor breach” of coronavirus lockdown rules when he drove the 50-mile round trip to Barnard Castle, but added that it did not intend to take “retrospective action”.

Following his visit to Brewdog, Sir Keir tweeted praise for the company's efforts during lockdown.

“BrewDog might have had their first weekend back serving customers but they never stopped working", he wrote.

“They’ve helped in the national effort against coronavirus by making free hand sanitiser.”
