A man remains in police custody after being arrested on suspicion of murdering a mother-of-two more than 14 years ago.
Vikki Thompson, 30, was found unconscious by the side of a railway line near her home in Ascott-under-Wychwood, Oxfordshire, in August, 1995.
A 34-year-old man, who has not been named, was arrested in the same village on Wednesday morning and is being questioned by Thames Valley Police.
Mrs Thompson's family said that she is still "desperately missed" by them all and they hoped justice could now be done. No one has ever been convicted of her murder.
Wednesday's arrest was made by Thames Valley Police's major crime review team, which investigates unsolved cases.
The force launched a fresh appeal for information about the death four years ago, and would not say what prompted the arrest.
Mrs Thompson went missing while she was walking her collie dog in her village. The dog returned home without her, and she was found three hours later.
She had suffered severe head injuries and was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital, where she later died.
In a statement, her husband Jonathon Thompson and mother Margaret Simpson said: "Vikki was only 30 years old. She was a loving wife and mother to Matthew and Jennifer. She was much loved by all her family and friends and is desperately missed. Time has passed by now, but still we never forget the loss we suffered when Vikki was taken away from us.
"We are aware of the arrest this morning by Thames Valley Police major crime review team and support their work in trying to find who killed Vikki. Vikki herself deserves the justice that has not yet been found."
