Man quizzed over woman's death

12 April 2012

A murder inquiry has been launched after a woman's body was discovered at a house.

South Yorkshire Police found the body of the unnamed 25-year-old woman at the property in Cudworth, Barnsley, in the early hours of New Year's Day.

A force spokesman said a 27-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and was being questioned by detectives.

Police said the death might be linked to an earlier incident when a blue Peugeot 206 hit a railway bridge on Burton Road in Cudworth at 1.10am, and have appealed for witnesses.

A post-mortem examination will be carried out later.
