A pensioner was crushed to death by her own car and lay undiscovered for nine days, an inquest heard.

Jane Marion Lord, 76, tried to stop her Vauxhall Corsa from rolling down her driveway near her home in Wales.

She is believed to have died on December 21 last year, but remained under her vehicle in the village of Cwm-cou, Newcastle Emlyn, until a friend found her after Christmas.

A coroner at the Aberystwyth inquest found that her death was accidental, the BBC reports.

Her friend Francesca Lis Ross became worried about Miss Lord when she delivered a Christmas card to her home on December 23.

Ms Ross with her husband and two dogs returned to the house on December 30 and found the pensioner’s body when her pets took an interest in the underside of her car.
