Detectives have launched a major inquiry after a prostitute who vanished from a red light district more than two weeks ago was found dead in a brook.
Gemma Adams, 25, disappeared from Ipswich, Suffolk, in the early hours of November 15. Her remains were found seven miles away at Hintlesham, Suffolk.
Her death raised fears for the safety of Tania Nicol, 19, a prostitute who disappeared from Ipswich more than a month ago. Both women worked in the town's red light district and detectives said there were "obvious similarities" between the two cases.
Police would not tonight say how Miss Adams died or how long they thought her body had been in the stream.
A spokeswoman said officers were waiting for the results of post mortem examination tests.
"Further tests will now have to be carried out to help ascertain the cause of death," said a spokeswoman.
"An area along the A1071 in Hintlesham has been cordoned off whilst police carry out their inquiries."
The spokeswoman said Miss Adams' remains were discovered by a member of the public on Saturday and the woman's identity confirmed today.
"The last confirmed sighting of Gemma was near to the BMW garage on West End Road at 1.15am on Wednesday 15th November," added the spokeswoman.
"Police are appealing for people to come forward who may have information in relation to this inquiry."
