Young child rushed to hospital after falling 'from height' from Poplar flats

A young child has been rushed to hospital after falling "from height" from a block of flats in east London.

Police said they were called at around 6.45pm on Monday evening to reports that a child, believed to be a toddler, fell from a residential building in Poplar.

Officers closed the A13 East India Dock Road in both directions just before 7pm.

“Officers remain on scene and road closures are in place at junction with Chrisp Street and Newby Place," said police in statement.

"Motorists should use other routes."

The London Ambulance Service (LAS) and Air Ambulance also attended the scene.

LAS said the child was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to a major trauma centre by ambulance.

A Met spokesman said no arrests have been made and the child’s condition is not yet known.
