Postal workers end strike threat

12 April 2012

Postal workers have overwhelmingly accepted a pay deal, ending the threat of a national strike.

Members of the Communication Workers Union voted by 85% in favour of the agreement, worth 3.9%.

CWU official Ray Ellis said: "We have secured a platform that ensures the union is fully involved in shaping the future of our members."

He continued: "This includes moving forward on our pay ambition of catching, matching and overtaking average basic pay.

"It also means that we are well positioned to deal with change in the business in a way that ensures our ideas will be key to shaping our members' future the way they want it to work."
