The Duke of Cambridge has revealed he is a big fan of the restaurant Nando’s after he was introduced to the chicken chain by one of his protection officers.

His admission came as he attended a joint Commonwealth Business and Youth forums discussion at London's Queen Elizabeth II conference centre.

There, business leaders and philanthropists from across the globe shared their advice and experience with young entrepreneurs.

The duke was first introduced to Robert Brozin, co-founder of Nando's.

When he was told about the successful businessman William immediately turned to one of his Met Police personal protection officers and replied: "This man here is your biggest fan.

"He introduced me to Nando's, it's very good, he should buy a stake in Nando's."

Mr Brozin, who opened his first restaurant in South Africa in 1987, said he was not surprised the Prince had tried Nando's.

"The beauty of Prince Harry and Prince William is that they're really accessible and they are guys that go out a lot - I'm very happy that they've tried it," he said.

Prince William later joined the start of the roundtable chat chaired by Richard Pattle, the Prince of Wales' former equerry and master of the household who is now vice chairman of Standard Chartered's private banking clients division.

The duke gave a brief speech and described how during overseas tours he has admired the efforts of business people he has met.

The prince also spoke about his ambitions for the Royal Foundation, which he founded with Prince Harry and Kate in 2011 and which Meghan Markle will join as fourth patron after the royal wedding.

He told delegates: "We, as the Royal Foundation, can help lead, but if we can connect to some of those bigger foundations in the world and come together with one message, imagine the focus and the change."
