The Duke of Kent will accompany the Queen at this year’s Trooping the Colour following the death of her husband Prince Philip earlier this year.
The Queen’s cousin will join her for her official birthday parade in Windsor next month.
He has accompanied the Queen once before at the Trooping of the Colour, when Prince Philip was recovering from surgery in 2013.
The event usually takes place at the Horse Guards Parade in London but will take place in Windsor this year due to the pandemic, the Mail on Sunday reports.
Palace sources said that following Covid restrictions and a period of mourning for her husband, the Queen will soon begin increasing her personal engagements.
The parade will feature more military personnel than last year’s event.
The Queen is also due to meet US president Joe Biden when he arrives next month for the G7 summit in Carbis Bay, Cornwall.
It is likely Mr Biden will be afforded a full state visit, like his predecessor Donald Trump, at a later late.
It is understood the monarch will travel to Cornwall to welcome the presidents and prime ministers of Canada, France, Germany, Italy and Japan.
Prince Charles is expected to join her for the trip, as well as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
Keen environmentalist Charles has reportedly told aides he is keen to meet Mr Biden, who in February rejoined the Paris Agreement, a legally binding international treaty to tackle climate change.
“There is a strong desire to return to normal duties and for the country to return to normal too,” a source said.
The Queen was forced to sit alone at Prince Philip’s funeral last month due to Covid restrictions.
