Police investigating the murder of an 18-year-old man who was stabbed to death in a street fight have arrested six teenagers.
Dale Robertson was stabbed in the chest and died after up to 40 youths clashed in Rokeby Drive, Parson Cross, Sheffield, on Saturday night, during a 16th birthday party.
South Yorkshire Police said an 18-year-old man, two 17-year-old boys, two 16-year-old boys and a 15-year-old boy had been arrested on suspicion of Mr Robertson's murder.
Detectives are continuing to question a 16-year-old boy arrested at the weekend after they were granted extra time by magistrates.
Two 17-year-old boys, also arrested at the weekend, have been released on bail pending further inquiries.
Emergency services were called to Rokeby Drive just after 11pm following reports that a man had been assaulted "by a number of people".
Witnesses said they saw the victim staggering in the street before he collapsed to the ground in a pool of blood. The teenager was taken to hospital in the city but died from his injuries.
Earlier this week, police insisted the incident was not gang-related after some residents spoke of running battles in the street and of a clash between gangs with allegiances to different postcode areas of the city.
Superintendent Peter Norman, of South Yorkshire Police, said officers believed the incident started with an altercation at the birthday party and then escalated when more people arrived and got involved.
The officer said he believed it had more to do with teenagers drinking large amounts of alcohol than with any kind of gang affiliation. The senior officer said he wanted to reassure people living in the area that his team believed the incident was isolated and not related to any gang issues.
