A little blue tit has been causing big trouble for police in Gloucester.

The feathery tyrant has been blocking CCTV cameras as he peers into them to catch a glimpse of his reflection.

Police say that his presence on camera has become so frequent that they have appealed for more information about their new friend.

Officers described the bird, who they have affectionately named “Steve”, as “very small, quite roundly shaped, with blue and yellow plumage".

In the CCTV, the plump little bird is seen hurtling towards the camera and staring deeply into the lens .

One officer told the Telegraph: "He must like his reflection in the lens.

"He keeps getting in the way and is always blurred and out of focus because he's so close."

Blue tits are known to peck at their own reflections when they mistake it as an intruder.

Steve was most recently spotted by police on Monday. Posting on Twitter, officers wrote: “Steve is back on his rounds this sunny morning.”
