Stones 'most expensive wedding act'

12 April 2012

The Rolling Stones have been named the "world's most expensive wedding act" at an estimated cost of £5 million, while former Hear'Say singer Danny Foster could be snapped up for just £650.

A poll to find out the most costly wedding crooners put the Stones ahead of Sir Elton John, Sir Paul McCartney, Kylie Minogue and Leona Lewis.

It also found that chart-topping X Factor runners-up JLS could be cheaper to book than The Proclaimers.

If the million pound-plus fees for international superstars do not come within the bridal budget, up-and-coming stars Lady Gaga and Katy Perry were said to be available for around £60,000.

A fraction behind were karaoke favourites The Proclaimers, who could belt out I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles) for £50,000.

The Scottish duo are so popular on the wedding circuit that they fell ahead of heart-throbs JLS, who could grace a marquee for £25,000 - £975,000 less than fellow X Factor star turned worldwide sensation Lewis.

Rick Astley, who stormed the charts in the 1980s and whose Never Gonna Give You Up video inspired the internet phenomenon of "Rickrolling", was also priced by the survey at £25,000.

The most budget-friendly act in the study was Foster, who shot to fame alongside on TV talent show Popstars.

The women in the group, Kym Marsh, Myleene Klass and Suzanne Shaw, have gone on to enjoy higher profiles than soul singer Foster and fifth bandmate Noel Sullivan.

The poll was conducted for TV channel Living by a financial analyst.
