Strictly Come Dancing star Ricky Whittle has appeared in court to deny a dangerous driving charge.

The 30-year-old actor, who finished runner-up in the BBC dancing show last month, was arrested at the end of November after he allegedly struck a photographer with his car.

The Hollyoaks actor appeared before Liverpool magistrates where he denied the charge.

He will reappear at the court on March 12 for a committal hearing to Liverpool Crown Court.

Whittle, of Billinge, near Wigan, spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth and plea.

He was granted unconditional bail.

As he walked away from the building Whittle picked up a cameraman who slipped on ice while walking backwards to film him.
