The man allegedly assaulted by Chris Tarrant in a curry house has claimed the TV star threw a knife at him.
Diner John Trussler said he was celebrating his 36th birthday with his girlfriend when the Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? presenter threw the piece of cutlery at him after he joked with the celebrity.
Tarrant, 60, who was arrested following the alleged incident, later admitted that he did jokingly "lob" some cutlery on to the couple's table after asking them to leave him alone to discuss work with two colleagues.
The presenter said he did not know if he threw "a spoon, a fork, a napkin - whatever" but that he chatted with the couple later and they were fine.
Mr Trussler, an electrician from Nottingham, told the Sun he was left with an inch-long cut on his right arm after being hit with the knife in the MemSaab restaurant in Nottingham on Sunday night.
The 36-year-old claimed the incident began when he made a comment to Tarrant as he headed towards the restaurant's buffet with the wrong plate.
The electrician said: "I jokingly said, 'Sit down, you don't know what you're doing'. He put his plate down, picked up a knife and threw it at me. He was about 20ft away."
He added: "I couldn't believe it when he said he'd lobbed a spoon. Police took pictures of the cut. The next day I went to my doctor's. A nurse gave me a tetanus injection."
Tarrant told Sky News: "It is just utter nonsense. There was no aggro, there was no temper, there was no problem."
Nottinghamshire Police have confirmed that a 60-year-old man was arrested on Sunday on suspicion of assault following a complaint by a diner. He was questioned and later released on police bail to return on a date in June.
