Teenage airgun victim named

12 April 2012

A teenage boy who was accidentally shot dead with an air rifle has been named by police.

Scotland Yard said the incident in which Sam Shaw, 15, was killed appeared to be a family tragedy.

It was thought the boy and two other youngsters were doing target practice in a garden when he was shot.

A Yard spokeswoman said officers were called to an address in the Pinkwell area of Hayes, Middlesex to reports of a boy shot with an air rifle.

"He was pronounced dead at the scene. A post mortem will take place at Uxbridge Mortuary in due course.

"Officers from Hillingdon CID are investigating the circumstances of the incident.

"No arrests have been made.

"At this early stage we are treating this incident as a family tragedy.

"A full report will be compiled for the coroner but it would appear the deceased and two boys were doing target practice in the garden of an address when the deceased was shot."
