Online trolls have targeted the fundraising webpage of a prospective student who wants to go to Oxford university.

Emily-Rose Eastop, 26, has won a place to study for a masters degree at Magdalen College but needs £26,000 to pay for it.

She has so far raised £14,000 from donors to her online appeal, but comments have also been added to it including one saying: “You’re a posh brat who’s too used to getting what she wants — I know your type.”

Miss Eastop, who lives rent-free with her musician mother in South Woodford, said: “If you do not want to donate then you do not have to. ”

She added: “I would rather not do the degree than have my mum pay for it.”
