The UK has recorded zero coronavirus deaths for the first time since March 2020.
Government data also revealed that there were a further 3,165 new Covid cases recorded.
Separate figures published by the Office for National Statistics show there have now been 153,000 deaths registered in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.
While the low death toll is good news, it may have been caused by a delay in recording due to to the bank holiday weekend.
Meanwhile, Covid-19 case rates are starting to rise steeply in more areas of north-west England, though rates in Bolton are continuing to fall.
Rossendale, Ribble Valley and Hyndburn – all parts of Lancashire – are among those areas now recording some of the highest rates in the UK.
Blackburn with Darwen, also in Lancashire, remains the area with the highest rate in the country.
But while rates in Bolton are now dropping, other areas of Greater Manchester, such as Bury, Manchester and Salford, are recording a sharp rise.
It comes as 93,103 more people have received the first dose of the vaccine, and 195,546 more people received the second dose.
On Monday, thousands of people descended on Twickenham Rugby Stadium when it was turned into a major walk-in vaccine centre for anyone over the age of 18.
11,000 people received jabs after slots were made available for those in the local area who had not yet been vaccinated.
The event – called Let’s Tackle Covid – aimed to increase the number of vaccinations as cases of the Indian coronavirus variant surge in Hounslow, west London.
People who are aged over 30 are being called up for a vaccination in England at the moment, but by 2.30pm event organisers said that anyone over 18 would be able to get an injection at the stadium as they did not want any of the vaccine to be wasted.
Huge queues formed around the famous venue as young people queued to get their first dose of the Pfizer jab.
