A British woman who had recently married an American psychologist has been stabbed to death by her stepson in a frenzied attack at their home.

The Foreign Office said Tracy Brannan, 33, originally from Glasgow, died in the incident in Omaha, Nebraska.

Her stepson, David Brannan, 21, then stabbed himself, according to neighbours. Mrs Brannan's husband Harold, 60, was also injured in the attack.

Mrs Brannan, born Tracy Wyatt, married Mr Brannan in May.

The Omaha World Herald said David Brannan was being treated at the Nebraska Medical Centre for stab wounds but was expected to survive.

A Foreign Office spokesman said: "A British national died in Omaha, Nebraska. Next of kin are aware and we are providing consular assistance."

Mrs Brannan worked for Loch Fyne Oysters Limited from 1995 until she left in March this year for a new married life in the States.

She worked in the Oyster Bar, latterly in the role of assistant head chef.

A spokeswoman for Loch Fyne Oysters said: "Tracy was a good friend and colleague and made a major contribution to the success of the oyster bar while she was here.

"All the staff who knew her are feeling a great sense of loss and shock at what has occurred."
